Sugar Cookie Factory

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU! I HOPE YOUR 2012 IS EVERYTHING YOU WANT IT TO BE!
This is my daughter Haley (acting goofy) icing some sugar cookies she made during the holidays! She used her Aunt Pam's fabulous sugar cookie recipe, which I've shared below. We had fun this Christmas baking in the kitchen together and her sugar cookies turned out so good! Add a little confectioners' sugar icing, and you're in heaven!
Aunt Pam's Sugar Cookie Recipe
2/3 cup shortening
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
4 teaspoons milk
2 cups sifted flour
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Thoroughly cream shortening, sugar, and vanilla. Add egg; beat till light and fluffy. Stir in milk. Sift together dry ingredients; blend into creamed mixture. Divide dough in half. Chill 1 hour. On lightly floured surface, roll to 1/8-inch thickness. Chill other half until ready to use. Cut in desired shapes with cookie cutters. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 375 degrees about 6 to 8 minutes. Cool slightly and remove from pan. Ice with confectioners' sugar icing colored with food dye. YIELD: 2 dozen
